Oil of the Week: Wild Orange

Waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh squeezed orange juice is a rejuvenating experience! The sweet and fresh scent may sweep the sleepy feeling right out of you as you sit down to enjoy the taste of that delicious juice. The exciting thing about doTerra’s Wild Orange essential oil, is that the oils itself is far more concentrated than the juice. This means that you get to enjoy that same amazing smell with even more benefits!

Wild Orange is one of doTerra’s best selling oils because of its energizing properties. Cold pressed strait from the peel, this oil is stimulating and purifying which makes it the perfect  booster for our immune systems when seasonal threats come into play. One of the biggest benefits that Wild Orange oil has is the fact that it’s packed full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals within the body, meaning that this oil is great for maintaining overall health*. Diffusing Wild Orange during the day will energize your mind and purify the air all at the same time; not to mention, have your house smelling like an orange grove on a warm summer morning!

A few great ways to use this oil is as a cleaner spray, flavoring for water, and a mood booster on those grey days.

What to look out for when using Citrus oils.

While citrus has lots of great benefits for the body, these kinds of oils are actually photosensitive. This means that citrus oils contain natural substances called furanocoumarins which react with ultraviolet light. When this reaction occurs, a substance can be created that may cause hyper-pigmentation, or burning on the skin. This doesn’t mean that you can’t use citrus oils, because they do have lots of great benefits! Just remember that care should be taken after applying these oils on the skin to protect these areas from direct, prolonged ultraviolet light exposure for 12 hours.

If you need a mood boost, this oil is perfect for you! Let me know if you would like to learn more about these amazing oils by sending me a message on my contact page, or head over to my doTerra website to see some great recipes you can create with essential oils!
